Himalayas by Road

The Himachal Hill Escape is a journey through India's most breathtaking mountain landscapes — from the charming colonial hill station of Shimla to the snow-draped valleys of Manali and the spiritual calm of Dharamshala. This route takes you across winding Himalayan roads, alpine meadows, and ancient Buddhist monasteries.

Beginning in Delhi, you ascend to Shimla — the former summer capital of British India — with its Victorian architecture, toy train, and ridge walks. From there the road climbs higher to Manali, the adventure capital of the Himalayas, where snow peaks, the Rohtang Pass, and the Solang Valley await. The journey concludes in Dharamshala, home of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile, draped in a unique blend of Himalayan and Tibetan culture.

Your private driver handles every mountain pass and hairpin bend so you can sit back, breathe in the pine-fresh air, and absorb the ever-changing views from your window.

Travel Tips

Best Time to Visit
March to June for snow and pleasant weather. October–November for clear skies and autumn colours. Avoid July–August (heavy rains, landslides on mountain roads). Winter (Dec–Feb) is magical but roads to Rohtang close.
What to Pack
Pack warm layers even in summer — evenings in Manali and Dharamshala are cold. Carry waterproof jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, and sturdy shoes. Altitude sickness medicine recommended for Rohtang Pass.
Rohtang Permit
Rohtang Pass requires a daily permit (limited vehicles allowed). Book online at least 2–3 days in advance via the HP Tourism portal. We assist with the process — just let us know when enquiring.
Connectivity & Cash
Mobile signal can be patchy on mountain roads — download offline maps. Carry enough cash as ATMs in remote areas may be scarce. BSNL and Airtel have the best coverage in Himachal.
